Founded in 1995, NCADC is a national organisation which supports community-led campaigns for justice in the asylum and immigration system, with a focus on supporting people facing forced removal. We currently have two Campaigns Coordinators, supported by a small team of volunteers. The organisation is managed by a voluntary Management Committee of Directors.
Direct support: public campaigns against deportation
NCADC provides free, objective and confidential advice on all pros and cons of campaigning work. If you decide that a campaign is right for you we can help with planning, organising your first campaign meetings, writing letters, petitions, designing leaflets, contacting politicians, using the media and more. NCADC cannot represent you, or run your campaign, but we can advise you and your supporters and we can publish your campaign materials on the internet and our email lists, appealing for public support.
Indirect support: signposting to other sources of help
If you decide that a campaign is not right for you, we may be able to help in other ways, with information and signposting advice. NCADC cannot provide legal advice, but we may be able to help you find up-to-date information that could help your case. We will try to find groups in your area that can help. We can refer people to help with detention or destitution problems.
Information service
We provide an information service through email newsletters, our website, news blog, and other online communications. Our NCADC World website is a repository of country of origin information to support asylum applications and campaigns. Through this service we week to raise public awareness of injustice in the immigration and asylum system, as well as providing resources for people campaiging for the right to stay.
Capacity building and training
NCADC provides support and advice to local campaigning groups, and can deliver training sessions to help groups to support and campaign for people facing deportation. In 2011 we have started a process with an advisory group to create a comprehensive new campaigning toolkit, with a handbook and training materials. The aim is for this to be launched late 2011 or early 2012.
