Facing Deportation: No one can fight against it alone
NCADC has been supporting individuals, families and communities to campaign against deportation for 13 years - with the increased use of 'Charter flights', the past year has been a hard one for all those facing deportation and those campaigning to stop deportations.
However there has been lots of magnificent resistance in the last 12 months, and many victories.
The next 12 months may be even harder new HC321 legislation, which requires people without leave to remain in the UK to leave the UK voluntarily at their own cost or face a one to ten year ban on re-entering the UK. This means that people without status will be in a 'No win' situation, deport yourself or face being banned from the UK.
Lunch will be provided for all participants, and there will be a crèche. The venue has disabled access.
Travel costs for those facing deportation is reimbursed by NCADC for the cheapest advanced bookings on National Express coaches. Please note that NCADC cannot reimburse for more expensive forms of travel - e.g. tickets bought on the day of travel.
Election of Chair/Secretary and management committee for 2008/2009
We need your commitment
Those attending the NCADC AGM on the 7th June will elect a new management committee (MC) for 2008/2009. The MC normally comprises a Chair, Secretary and 10 members (one of whom will be the Treasurer and a Vice chair); their duties are to oversee the running of NCADC for one year. MC meetings are bi-monthly and will be held on Saturdays in London. There will be an induction day for the newly elected MC in London on Saturday 21st June 2008 and the first full MC meeting will be on Saturday 5th July 2008.
Anyone can be nominated to stand for the MC, however they must be present at the AGM and nominees should be a mixture of those facing deportation, those who have campaigned against deportation and people with status.
We know how much competing pressure there is on people's time and we also know that people value highly and respect the work done by NCADC.
At this time NCADC is really keen for some more people to come forward who are not themselves facing the threat of deportation and who can participate alongside people seeking asylum in supportively managing the work of NCADC over the next year.
NCADC supported campaigns run from Glasgow in Scotland to Plymouth in the south of England, so ideally we would like to see an MC comprised of people from all over the UK. (UK England/Wales/Scotland/Northern Ireland) |
