Urgent Action needed for Armand Tchuibeu

Urgent Action needed for Armand Tchuibeu

Dear friends and colleagues, our dear friend Armand from Cameroon is yet again facing another deportation, set for Wednesday 22nd August at 06.20am from Heathrow Airport, on British Airways flight BA302 to Paris and then Air France flight AF946 from Paris to Douala, Cameroon.

The 2nd deportation order that had been served on him for the 7th August 2007 was halted with an injunction on the basis that he was required for an Independent examination by an orthopedic surgeon as part of the necessary evidence required for his Civil Action claim

The first attempt to remove Armand was made at the end of Jan 2007 after his asylum application had been refused and appeal rights exhausted. Armand alleges, whilst being “escorted” to the Airport he suffered racist verbal abuse, was beaten severely and sustained such injuries that his leg needed to be put in plaster before he was returned to detention. He has since instructed a Solicitor to act on his behalf to issue a Civil Action complaint and this is due to be heard in court when all the necessary evidence has been gathered.

Armand was forced to leave Cameroon because after inheriting his Father's estate his older half brothers put out a death threat against him. It is a custom in Cameroon for the First Born son to inherit the Father's estate, but Armand was a younger son and, in making Armand the beneficiary, his father was going against tradition. Armand's half brothers were outraged by this and set out to kill him, destroying his home and his own mother's plantation and had Armand not escaped, they would have succeeded in killing him. Vendettas such as this over reasons of inheritance are not unusual and a death threat continues to be pursued until the person who issued it dies or the person it is against dies. Armand's brothers boast in a death threat letter of their strong links and affiliations with Police and Political Authorities in Cameroon and so Armand would be in great danger if he were to be returned.

We now appeal for your support so that we can stop Armand's imminent deportation so that the fresh evidence he has gained can be used in support of a fresh Asylum Claim whilst we continue to support his Civil Action.

Armand has suffered greatly as a result of the death of his father and his forced departure from his Mother and friends in Cameroon and also for the injustices he has suffered in the UK. It is essential that he is able to stay in the UK for the court hearing for his Civil Action claim and to be able to re-open his Asylum claim with the fresh evidence he has gathered.

Armand is strongly likely to be found and face serious persecution if returned to Cameroon, and this is of equal concern to the requirements of his Civil Action case.

Below is a list of people that we ask you to fax and attached are template letters for each of these people.

Please notify the campaign copies of any faxes sent:
