Still Here, Still Fighting
Zuber Latif: Hackney has had his judicial review
adjourned pending a decision in another case. The Latif family argue
that if Zuber is deported to India the Home Office will have violated
Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights. A consultant

they are forced to go with him to India - a country she has never
seen nor lived in.

for Care of Victims of Torture for help with presenting their asylum
claim. The campaign lobbied Islington Council education committee,
over the summer and the newly elected chair of education has agreed
to write to the Home Office supporting them and any other families
threatened with deportation who have children in Islington schools.
The new education committee also agreed that schools should be free
to support families of students threatened with deportation - a
reversal of policy from the pre-election committee and an important
victory for the Senguls and all deportees with children in Islington.

take employment and has got a job as a chef. He still has to register
with the police every month and is having difficulty getting time
off work to go and sign. The campaign are getting support from the

Amin and Faye Bekai are still waiting for the decision of
the special adjudicator on Amin's asylum appeal. Medical reports
have shown that Faye Bekai is suffering from severe schizophrenia
and that she and their child would suffer terribly if the family
were broken up by Amin's deportation to Algeria.
