Very sad news

On Tuesday 12th March 2002, asylum seeker Mohsen Amri, took his life in a room in Handsworth, Birmingham.
Mohsen came to the UK two years ago from Iran. He had not been allowed to work and had just received the news that his asylum claim had been refused.

ÊÊÊÊÊHe has no family in the UK but his many friends do not wish to let Mohsen's tragic death pass unnoticed.

ÊÊÊÊÊHis friends are firmly of the opinion that Mohsens death was brought about by the cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment that he received from the Home Office and NASS. In that the Home Office did not take his claim for asylum seriously and whilst waiting for this unbearable news he had to live under the National Asylum Support Service, which neither supports asylum seekers nor provides a service.

ÊÊÊÊÊDeep sadness and anger are the mixed emotions that his friends are feeling at the moment, but they have decided that Mohsens death should not pass with out protest and that in the immediate future some kind of protest will be held.

ÊÊÊÊÊNCADC and the International Federation of Iranian Refugees will fully support any actions to mark the sad and tragic death of Mohsen Amri.
