"Home
Secretary accused of "bordering on fascism"
In the Independent (Tuesday
3rd December 2002), Simon Carr the sketch writer reacts angrily
to the Home Secretary's statement to the House yesterday on
the closure of Sangatte. Commenting on the debate, Carr writes,

abolition of jury trials. The right of officials to view private
internet histories. Asylum courts that hear appeals brought
against their own judgments.
If you want to talk about bordering on fascism, that's the
Sudetenland in 1938."
